Nous devions trouver des directions de villes et de pays partout dans le monde. Achev\u00e9s, ils sont de forme et de tailles variables et peuvent contenir de quelques dizaines \u00e0 plusieurs milliers d&rsquo;individus, selon l&rsquo;esp\u00e8ce. Apparents ou cach\u00e9s, on les rencontre dans les endroits les plus vari\u00e9s : tronc d&rsquo;arbres creux, coffrages de volets roulants, chemin\u00e9es, greniers&#8230; \u00e0 la cime des arbres aussi bien que dans le sol. On les rep\u00e8re surtout gr\u00e2ce aux all\u00e9es et venues diurnes des ouvri\u00e8res qui peuvent aller chercher leur nourriture assez loin du nid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image sizes=\"(max-width: 444px) 100vw, 444px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Les besoins en nourriture sont doubles : des substances carn\u00e9es pour les larves (cadavres d&rsquo;insectes, fragments de viande &#8230;) et des mati\u00e8res sucr\u00e9es (fruits) et prot\u00e9ines animales ou v\u00e9g\u00e9tales (pollens) pour les adultes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pour nourrir les larves, les adultes capturent des
